Worst week in years.
Today (or possibly next thursday) should have been a happy occasion for me and my family. My niece, Emma Jane, was supposed to be delivered.
Unfortunately, last thursday, I got a call from my mom (she was crying) saying that Emma had not made it.
Wednesday night, my sister-in-law went to bed about 10:00 pm and felt Emma moving around. Emma would normally settle down and not move much during the night. Thursday morning, she woke up and didn't feel Emma moving. My brother took her to the doctor at 8:00 when he opened, but he could not find a heartbeat. They then went up to the hospital and couldn't find the heartbeat there either. After running several tests, they determined that Emma had died. They delivered her by c-section about 3:00 in the afternoon. My brother and his wife got to see Emma and hold her for a while. They then brought Emma into another room where mom and I got to go in and see her and to say our goodbyes to her before we ever got to welcome her to the world.
Yesterday she was buried in a plot next to my dad.
Emma would have been the first female Simpson in our line in 5 generations. Our father had a sister who was also stillborn, Maryln.
